June 26, 2024 – Student Company MomentoVan. is the recipient of JA British Columbia’s 2024 Celebrate Entrepreneurship Award. This $3,000 award is sponsored by the B.C. Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation and recognizes the JA student company that best demonstrates innovation.

Developed by a team of 15 high school students, MomentoVan created and sold customizable desktop music plaques that combine music with memories. Each plaque features a picture, engraved app imagery, and a QR code that directs users to Spotify to play a selected song. A portion of the proceeds from sales was donated to the Vancouver Food Bank.

“Congratulations to the team at MomentoVan on this well-deserved award that reflects your inventive spirit and dedication,” said Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation. “It’s exciting to see young BC entrepreneurs working together to create a product beloved across Canada and the globe.”

MomentoVan was part of the 16-week JA Company Program that encourages high school students to build their own start-up. Led by business mentors, students create their own companies and learn about human centered design thinking, creative product development, product life cycles, e-commerce, app development and more. Student companies must address one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Learn more about the JA Company program
