Hey Educators- join us for a virtual, live interactive program that allows students to meet financial experts and learn about the crucial concepts of budgeting and expense management. Students will also have the opportunity to explore pay stubs and understand aspects of income and deductions, including CPP.

Date: April 18, 2024

Time: 9:15-10:00 am PST

Grades: 8-12

Instructional time: 45 minutes, including a Q&A

This experience aims to support students in their journey to explore and refine their financial goals by reflecting on their personal budgets and expenses. Understanding pay stubs, incomes, and deductions, like CPP, provides practical knowledge for their early career experiences.

JA volunteers from the local community and financial background play a key role in this program as featured guest speakers, guiding and inspiring students to establish a robust foundation for financial independence and success in a dynamic economy.

Our previous Personal Budgeting Module was held on November 30, 2023 from 10:00 am to 10:45 am PST.

After completing the program, students will be prepared to:

  • Create a monthly budget for themselves using the budget sheets provided for the session and revise them against an income.
  • Gain a better understanding about the components of a typical pay stub, the difference between gross and net incomes, deductions, and more.
  • Develop an understanding of CPP, one of the key deductions, and why it matters.
