Empowering Youth: Hands-On Workshops and Outdoor Experiences to Strengthen Mental Well-Being and Ease the Transition to High School

Grades 7-8 students get the unique opportunity to participate in a series of interactive workshops and outdoor activities aimed at enhancing their mental wellbeing skills. This fun-filled day is designed to ease their transition to high school and prepare them for the future.

Students will be guided by JA volunteers, mental health experts and Grouse Mountain staff.

Activities

 Mental Wellbeing Keynote: Markus Kaulius shares how resilience, integrity, and mental well-being have shaped his journey, inspiring students to think entrepreneurially, and navigate challenges with purpose.

 Inquiring Mind Workshop: Offered by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, this workshop promotes healthy coping strategies, reduces stigma surrounding mental health, and teaches support techniques.

 Mountain Scavenger Hunt: Students complete a series of challenges, honing teamwork and collaboration as they ascend towards a thrilling high-point challenge.

 Mountain Ropes Adventure™: Students tackle aerial ropes courses featuring over 50 diverse elements such as ziplines, bridges, and tunnels, fostering courage and camaraderie.
