Role Purpose
The Senior Manager, Indigenous Communities, provides strategic leadership, relationship stewardship, and program development oversight for JABC’s work with Indigenous communities and Indigenous learners across British Columbia.
While the primary focus of this role is to expand and strengthen the JA Company Program for Indigenous Learners (CPI), including tailoring its content to reflect community priorities, cultural context, and learner needs, the role also supports the broader expansion of JABC’s Indigenous-focused programming across entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness.
This position is responsible for building and sustaining high-impact partnerships with Indigenous communities, school districts, post-secondary institutions, community organizations, and partners to expand access to JABC programs in ways that are culturally responsive, community-informed, and aligned with Indigenous youth aspirations.
This role is based in the Greater Vancouver Area, and regular travel within and occasional travel outside of the Lower Mainland is required.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the VP, Programs, your key responsibilities include:
Strategic Relationship Development & Partnership Leadership
- Lead strategic relationship-building with Indigenous communities, Chief and Council, educational districts, universities, and corporate partners.
- Serve as JABC’s primary liaison with UBC Sauder, University of Victoria and other institutions, ensuring effective collaboration, curriculum alignment, and execution of all terms under Memoranda of Understanding and other governing documents.
- Represent JABC in provincial and community forums, cultural gatherings, galas, and other strategic events to strengthen brand presence and foster meaningful partnerships.
- Develop and lead strategies to expand CPI and other Indigenous Programs across new districts, Indigenous communities, and remote/online cohorts.
- Build partnerships with Indigenous-owned businesses and organizations to incorporate guest speakers, mentorship opportunities, and resource contributions.
- Travel within the province as required to engage prospective and existing partners in person.
JA Company Program for Indigenous Learners (CPI) Curriculum
- Oversee the curriculum for CPI, ensuring it authentically reflects Indigenous worldviews, values, and approaches to learning, adapting the curriculum as needed to reflect the particular Indigenous culture of the youth taking the program.
- Act as liaison with the broader JA Company Program, incorporating lessons, modules and resources from that program as appropriate.
- Provide direction and quality oversight for all CPI programming to ensure delivery excellence and cultural integrity.
Stakeholder Relations & District Coordination
- Serve as the primary JABC representative to Directors of Instruction, Indigenous Education departments, school district administrators, Indigenous Support Workers, educators, and community-based education partners.
- Coordinate with Indigenous Support Workers, educators, facilitators, and local champions to ensure successful integration and delivery of CPI and other JABC programs.
- Work with community and school partners to identify which JABC programs are most relevant to local goals, including entrepreneurship, financial literacy, career readiness, leadership, and work readiness.
- Address emerging needs, feedback, or opportunities from school districts and community partners with a solutions-focused and relationship-centered approach.
- Support program planning across in-school, after-school, online, community-based, and hybrid delivery models.
Strategic Growth, Funding, and Communications
- Collaborate with the JABC Development team to identify Indigenous-focused funding opportunities and provide strategic insight for proposals, reports, donor communications, and stewardship materials.
- Provide program knowledge and community-informed insight to support funding requests related to CPI and broader Indigenous programming in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Impact Initiatives, to develop opportunities for Indigenous youth to participate in the JABC alumni network, leadership opportunities, mentorship, and future engagement pathways.
- Support marketing and communications teams to authentically reflect Indigenous voices, priorities, and perspectives in external messaging, promotional materials, and storytelling.
- Represent JABC publicly at partner events, community gatherings, funder meetings, and speaking engagements to enhance organizational visibility and trust within Indigenous communities.
- Contribute to impact measurement and storytelling by identifying meaningful outcomes, student stories, community feedback, and program learnings that reflect both quantitative and qualitative impact.
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Provide direction and mentorship to the Program Manager, Indigenous Communities.
- Work collaboratively with the Program Manager and Coordinator, Indigenous Communities, to ensure that strategic priorities are implemented efficiently across all deliveries.
- Establish clear priorities, workflows, and accountability mechanisms to ensure timely and efficient program execution.
- Oversee cultural competency and training opportunities for staff and volunteers to deepen organizational understanding of Indigenous perspectives.
- Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to travel reliably within the Greater Vancouver Area, and occasionally travel outside of the Lower Mainland.
- Significant experience working with Indigenous communities and education systems.
- Proven leadership in partnership development and relationship management.
- Experience Indigenizing curriculum or leading community-based program design.
- Strong public representation and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Ability to manage strategic initiatives, partnerships, and organizational growth simultaneously.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout province to meet prospective and existing partners to build partnerships and explore program opportunities.
- Passion for youth empowerment and education through culturally responsive programming.

Overview
Join us in making a difference! JA British Columbia (JABC) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting & Office Coordinator to play an important role in supporting our finance operations and office environment.
As part of JABC’s Operations team, you will contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the organization by supporting core accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, month-end support, and reporting. You will also help maintain an organized, welcoming, and well-equipped office and provide support to the Senior Salesforce Administrator. This is a great opportunity for someone who has solid accounting experience, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to grow into broader finance and systems responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate for this role has a proactive approach to work, outstanding time-management skills, and ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities.
Responsibilities include:
Accounting and Finance Support
- Process Accounts Payable, including ensuring proper authorization and accurate coding, posting journal entries, and issuing timely payments.
- Process Accounts Receivable, including issuing invoices, recording payments, and reporting on outstanding receivables.
- Post bank deposits; complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Maintain accounting schedules and prepare working papers.
- Prepare and post routine and recurring general journal entries; perform accounts reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Compile supporting documentation, maintain organized electronic filing system, and assist with year-end audit.
- Collaborate with Development team in reconciling revenue to Salesforce.
- Export and format reports from QuickBooks Online.
Office Coordination
- Order and monitor office, kitchenette, and workplace supplies.
- Coordinate purchases of basic computer supplies and office equipment.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers, as needed, regarding routine office needs.
- Maintain day-to-day office upkeep, organization, and appearance.
- Identify and suggest practical improvements that support staff experience, efficiency, and office organization.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of assigned JABC property.
- Provide general administrative support to help ensure smooth day-to-day office operations.
Salesforce Admin Support
- Assist with basic record updates, data export and cleanup.
- Prepare and maintain routine reports and dashboards to support multiple departments.
- Help troubleshoot basic user issues and escalate more complex matters, as needed.
Other tasks
- Maintain the general mailbox (info@jabc.org), including responses to internal and external inquiries.
- Assist with the ongoing development of accounting and office procedures and contribute to continuous improvement process.
- Perform other duties as assigned by VP of Finance and Operations.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in accounting support, bookkeeping, finance coordination, or a similar role.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, schedules, and journal entries.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or a similar accounting system.
- Experience with CRM or database systems; Salesforce experience is an asset but not required.
- Experience in a nonprofit environment is an asset.

Compensation
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday). The salary range for this position is $55,000–$60,000 per year, commensurate with experience and internal equity.
