Message from our President and CEO

.

November 14, 2025 – As JABC’s 70th anniversary year continues and we mark Financial Literacy Month, we have much to celebrate. From receiving a prestigious award to the progress we’ve made in delivering meaningful and engaging student experiences, it is clear that our work continues to play an important role in strengthening financial literacy across B.C.

Last month, we were proud to accept the Non-Profit of the Year award from the Vancouver Board of Trade. It was a highly competitive category, shortlisted to five finalists, and in the end, both JABC and Take a Hike Foundation were recognized. This honour reflects the energy, creativity, and dedication of our incredible team. Many people at the event went out of their way to express their respect and admiration for JABC’s work, which speaks volumes about the impact all our staff, partners and supporters make every day. I could not be more proud of this team.

In my remarks that evening, I touched on how vital our work is at a time when youth are navigating increasing pressures and overwhelming, and sometimes misleading, financial information online. This connects directly to Financial Literacy Month and its 2025 theme, “Talk Money,” which encourages open conversations about personal finances, including with financial professionals. We are fortunate to have so many exceptional volunteers from the financial sector who help bring these conversations to life for young people across the province.

We also held our AGM last month. I remain deeply grateful to our Board of Directors for their guidance and oversight of our strategic direction. This year, we’re delighted to welcome Kirk Kuester and Lui Petrollini, whose experience and insight will be valuable as we continue inspiring and preparing the next generation. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Steven Banick for his outstanding service and commitment as he steps down. View our 2025–26 Board of Directors.

Thank you to everyone who has shared notes of congratulations and for all you do to empower young people across British Columbia.

Wendi Campbell
