Meet alumnus Jack Wong, JABC Volunteer and new JABC employee.
Jack joined the JA Company Program in High School when he lived in Calgary, Alberta. He said, “JA’s Company Program was an excellent platform for me to develop my interpersonal skills and I met lifelong friends within the program.”
His student company, reFresh, made and sold mint and cherry scented air fresheners. “I was just a general member in my company doing different tasks to make sure my company was on track to success. During my time I learned valuable skills like cooperation, time management and accountability. All these skills transitioned into my post-secondary and current career path.”
In January 2020, Jack started his new position as a Development Officer at JABC and now manages important relationships with donors and prospects. “I graduated with a Marketing Degree and moved into a marketing role here in Vancouver. Within that role, I got to connect with the business community in Vancouver, which allowed me to transition to my current role as a Development Officer with JABC!
What advice would he give youth? “I tell my Company Program students every year to embrace Bruce Lee’s immortal wisdom… Be like water. Be formless, shapeless and adaptable. If you’re in an uncomfortable situation, adapt to it and overcome it. Don’t let the little things bother you, just flow with it, and don’t come crashing down from the tough situations. “
Thank you Jack for giving back to JA!
