Each year, JABC is very pleased to offer a number of awards to recognize outstanding performance in a JA program.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, we are able to give away thousands of dollars worth of awards annually. The process is simple! Please review the eligibility requirements for each award below and then apply online.

2025 Awards and Scholarships

Individual Awards

Oratory and presentation skills are keys to success in business and community leadership. This award recognizes achievement in the development of speaking and presentation skills and is open to any senior-secondary or post-secondary youth who has participated in a JA program within the past five years.

This year, up to four participants will be awarded $2,500 each intended to support their diverse educational or other needs. Award recipients will make a one-minute speech at the annual BLBC Hall of Fame Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremonies to be held on June 8, 2026. 

The Junior Entrepreneur Award recognizes youth who have demonstrated outstanding business acumen, growth, leadership and entrepreneurial spirit while participating in JA Company Program or JA Company Program for Indigenous Learners.

Four youth in their student company during the 2025-26 school year will be awarded $2,500 each to support their diverse educational or other needs. Participants must be nominated by their JA Company Program mentor(s) or host teacher(s). Award recipients will participate in a live interview about their experience at the annual BLBC Hall of Fame Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremonies to be held on June 8, 2026. 

This award recognizes a self-identifying Indigenous OR rural (outside Metro Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Greater Victoria) OR new immigrant youth (born outside Canada) Junior Achiever who has demonstrated significant growth in business skills, learning skills, leadership skills and/or entrepreneurial skills.

The award recipient will receive $2,500 to support their diverse educational or other needs.

Jim Pattison Young Visionary Award

  • This award honours a high school student who, through a JA Program, demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and uses business to create meaningful community impact. Created in honour of Jim Pattison, it celebrates resilience, innovation, and the power of entrepreneurship to strengthen communities.
  • This year, one student will be awarded $2,500 intended to support their diverse educational or other needs. The award recipient will be invited to the annual BLBC Hall of Fame Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremonies to be held on June 8, 2026. 

Student Company Awards

JA Student Companies can complete one application to apply for both awards.

  • These awards are open to all JA British Columbia student teams participating in the JA Company Program or JA Company Program for Indigenous Learners during the 2025-26 school year.
This award recognizes creativity and innovation, profitability and viability, and outstanding planning and operation of a Student Company. The awarded team will receive $3,000 and will be entered into the national JA Canada Company of the Year award. The National award winner will represent JA Canada at the international JA Americas Company of the Year competition.

This award recognizes the JA Student Company that demonstrates the most innovation in their business. Some examples of innovation include: creating a new product, distributing your product or service in a completely new way, marketing your product using cutting edge tools and media, or using a business model rarely seen in today’s business world. The awarded team will receive $3,000.
