On December 11, JABC hosted a gathering for alumni from the JA Company Program for Indigenous Learners pilot, which ran from January to March 2024, fostering connection, mentorship, and shared learning. The event brought together six alumni who reconnected to discuss their experiences, aspirations, and the impact of their JA journey.
A highlight of the gathering was a special guest speaker, Stephanie Bradburn (Métis), who shared her inspiring entrepreneurial journey. Her story of perseverance and success resonated deeply with the alumni, sparking engaging discussions on the challenges and rewards of building a business. Through personal stories and professional insights, she encouraged alumni to embrace their entrepreneurial spirit and continue striving for success.
Beyond the speaker’s insights, the alumni explored ways to strengthen their network and stay connected through regular meetups and professional collaboration. They expressed enthusiasm for mentoring the next generation of Indigenous youth, recognizing the impact of giving back to the community. The group also discussed opportunities to support JA British Columbia through volunteering, knowledge-sharing, and community initiatives.
Looking ahead, plans are underway to expand the Indigenous alumni network, ensuring continued engagement, collaboration, and contributions to the success of future participants in the JA Company Program for Indigenous Learners. This gathering reaffirmed the power of mentorship, the value of shared experiences, and the importance of sustained community support. Stay tuned for future alumni events and opportunities to connect!
